OC Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K Race Preview

On May 3, I will be lacing up to run the OC Half Marathon. I’ve never run this race before, but I have ran my fair share of beach races, living in San Diego and all. The race takes place in Orange County (for those unaware, that’s basically halfway between LA and San Diego). The marathon actually runs through Newport Beach, Irvine, Santa Ana, and Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa area. Like I said, I’ve never ran this race before, but looking at the race maps, all races start at Fashion Island, running along Balboa Island and past John Wayne/OC Airport and finishes at the OC Fair & Event Center.

I know this race has been around for at least 10 years, so you know you will be running an organized race. You can also tell by looking at their website, it is definitely not their first time! If you ran the Surf City Marathon, the OC Marathon is the 2nd race of the Beach Cities Challenge, followed by the Long Beach Marathon (I have ran this one before). If you complete all 3 races, you get a Beach Cities medal, which looks pretty cool!

And because this race is taking place just before summer weather hits and you’re running near the beach, you know this race will be perfect conditions. I would think this is a good race to try and run a PR or hit a certain time goal. I took a short break from running and am just working out now, but I should get back into running soon to make sure I can complete the half marathon distance. If you’re looking for a fun, flat course with perfect running conditions, I suggest you consider registering for the OC marathon, half marathon or 5K! Check out the video to learn more!
