Road Runner Sports Running Buddies Team Final Thoughts

I just wanted to share this recap post about my final thoughts about Road Runner Sports and my experience with them (in-store and online) the past month or so. There wasn’t one near where I lived in LA when I was in high school cross country. If there was, I probably would have gone ahead and would have taken the gait test to know what type of running shoes I should have been wearing (rather than just buying the cheapest ones available).

The first few years I lived in San Diego, I only went to the Road Runner Sports a few times. So when I learned that part of being on the Road Runner Sports Running Buddy Team, you had to go into the store to go through the entire Shoe Dog experience, I was really looking forward to participating. It was then that I learned that I do not need to be wearing support shoes, but neutral (mind blown!) As mentioned in that initial blog post, everyone at the store was super helpful and friendly. Although not necessarily a pre-requisite, but I’m assuming most people who work at Road Runner Sports are runners to some degree. That knowledge and love of the sport definitely helps in connecting with customers and helping them relate to their needs.

One thing I haven’t mentioned in any other post is this fun program called the Adventure Runs. I participated a few months ago, it’s basically a city-wide scavenger hunt for a bunch of cool prizes and it’s all free! Right before the race starts, they’ll display a big map with markers of where you need to run to (distances vary from a quarter mile to 3+ miles away!) I made the mistake of trying to run to the farthest distance and try to work my way back, while others just stuck to locations nearby and actually won prizes! But it was a good workout and got to run with a lot of different people.

From an online perspective, I never really followed them before now. But they do post some fun and interesting information. It’s a combination of new deals and promotions going on, as well as contest that they’re running and other relevant information. You can follow them here: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
