With so many people working from home these days, it’s important to have the right office equipment in your home workspace. I’ve heard stories of workers using things like a folding chair for their desk, books as a laptop stand, and more. But seeing that remote work is not going away any time soon, it’s critical to have the right office equipment to be comfortable and efficient.
I have been lucky in that I have a dedicated office with a semi-private workspace. I had the basics to get through most days: desk, chair, laptop, monitor, and mouse/keyboard. But there were additional accessories that would have been nice to have. I was fortunate enough to have been offered the following Kensington products to review. Kensington is one of the most well-known brands when it comes to office equipment and supplies.
Kensington SmartFit® Ergo Single Extended Monitor Arm Single – $39.99
For those with limited desk space, a monitor arm is super important. Depending on how many monitors you have, it can take up quite a bit of space on your desk. You also have to make room for a keyboard and mouse as well as your laptop. By attaching your monitor to an arm, you free up space to keep your desk free for other stuff or for writing space if that is needed.
This specific model monitor arm is only for one monitor and was very easy to install. The instructions seemed like they were general instructions for all Kensington monitor arms, but the video on the product page was very useful. It comes with the tool you need to secure it onto your desk, but you do need a screwdriver to attach the arm to your monitor. I’ve freed up space on my desk for my dock and laptop stand.

When I first saw this product image, I assumed it was a laptop stand, but I just realized it’s actually supposed to be a monitor stand. I previously had a basic laptop stand to match the height of my monitor and with my adjustable height monitor arm, I decided to keep it at the same height as this stand.
The design of the Kensington Monitor Stand is much cooler than the one I had before and it comes with a separate heater that fits perfectly in the space below the stand.

Kensington Dual 4K Dock Station – $249.99
I never realized how important a docking station was until I saw how few ports my laptop actually has! With the Kensington docking station, I am now able to connect my monitor, ethernet cable, USB keyboard/mouse, and phone/headset chargers and then connect the station to my laptop using one USB-C cable, which also charges my laptop. Now if I ever have to take my laptop to another room, I can just unplug the one cable and I’m off.
The combination of my monitor arm, laptop stand, and docking station has cleared up my tiny desk space and I feel like I can be more efficient during my workday. These Kensington computer accessories are perfect additions to any home office, and they are very stylish and modern looking too.
