New Year’s Resolutions & Fitness Goals

Christmas is over and without having any time to recover, it’s already time for the next ‘holiday’ with New Years Eve and Day. The tradition of New Years is to come up with a resolution and working to maintain and/or reach that goal throughout the next year. One of the most common New Year’s resolutions for people is to get back into shape, start running (again), and go to the gym. I’m sure regulars hate this time of year because of the influx of people at the gym (for the first few weeks/months at least). I’m sure I’ll be seeing a lot more people at the gym above our office building soon. From my perspective, I think it’ll be nice to have others around so it’s not so quiet and boring at the gym.

One of my personal goals that I’m hoping to reach is completing my first triathlon. I have wanted to compete in one for a while now. I made steps to reach that goal by buying a used road bike, which I’ve used to bike to work more than a few times. And just a few months ago, I actually signed up for swimming lessons at the YMCA to help improve my technique to hopefully be able to complete the swim portion of a triathlon. If and when I finally become ready to complete my first race, I’ll neeed the proper gear to go along with the skillset I’ve gained through training. Millet Sports is one of many different websites that offer triathlon gear including wetsuits for the swim portion, as well as running and biking gear that are essential.

Whatever New Year’s resolution you may have, it’s important to not go all in and burn yourself out the first few weeks and months of the year. And don’t get discouraged if you hit a roadblock, there are definitely support systems available on and offline to help keep you on track and motivated.
