Los Angeles Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon 2015 Race Report
Posted on Dec 25, 2015 under Race | No CommentIt’s been 2 months since I ran this race, but better late than never, right? The Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles half marathon was the final race of the 3-pack Tour Pass that I purchased at the beginning of the year. I had already run 2 other destination races: Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle and Chicago. I actually didn’t want to run this particular race for a number of reasons: I’ve ran this race many times before, it was the weekend before my New Zealand vacation, and I hadn’t been running as often as I would have liked before a half marathon. But I couldn’t find any other race that would fit within my year-end schedule. LA is always a safe bet because it’s my hometown, so I can always make it an excuse to visit the family. And the results weren’t too terrible: 1:37:55 (7:29 min/mile), AG: 38/658, gender: 176/3290, overall: 185/7797.
As far as the race itself goes, there’s not much I can say about it since it’s been so long since I ran it. Looking back at my splits, I probably ran with a pacer for a slower finish time but at some point (around mile 8), I must have left the group and picked up the pace and ran on my own. It definitely worked out because I was able to run a 6:02 last mile!
The Rock ‘n’ Roll LA half marathon wraps up my races for 2015. Total number of races was 14, so I ran a little more than 1 race per month, which isn’t bad. And the types of races have varied from short 5K’s to half marathons, as well as fun runs and Spartan Race. For 2016, I already have a few races lined up. First is what should be the final Spartan Race that I run to wrap up my unofficial trifecta series. The following month, I’ll be running the LA Chinatown Firecracker 10K for the 6th year in a row! I am registered for another Rock ‘n’ Roll race…in Nashville! It’ll be an interesting race and I look forward to exploring the city.
Here are some race photos, as well a photo of the new rock trio medal I received for running 3 Rock ‘n’ Roll races this year.
