Pterys Wooden Sunglasses
What is Pterys? It is a startup that sells these very cool looking wooden sunglasses but also benefits for a very important disease called pterygium. It is an eye condition that is common in third world countries. It is also known as “surfer’s eye” and involves a growth occurring on the whites of the eye. 1 out of 4 adults living in tropical regions actually have it! It causes symptoms of irritation, redness, watery-eyes, and can even impair vision if it becomes severe enough. It’s like having sand in your eyes all day, every day.
Pterys sunglasses come in 3 styles of frames made of Rosewood and Zebrawood. All the frames come standard with polarized lenses, and springed hinges. They’re supposed to float too, but I haven’t tried yet (I just don’t feel comfortable getting anything wood wet..
But after wearing them out on multiple occasions, I have nothing but great things to say about the Pterys sunglasses. They are very trendy looking and I have gotten a lot of comments about them, they look great and does a good job keeping the sun out of my eyes. I was afraid they would not fit me at first, but the spring hinges allows them to fit most face types. Pterys is running an Indigogo campaign to help raise funding for this project.
