UnBurn SunBurn Relief Gel Review
When I ran in high school, I never bothered wearing sunscreen before or during my runs. Looking back, it probably wasn’t the best idea, especially on those hot summer runs. On the rare occasion I did wear sunscreen, my skin would seem to have a negative reaction to it and my face would immediately burn, itch and eventually peel. It was not a pleasant experience. I’m assuming it’s some type of allergic reaction and it probably means I can only use a specific type of sunscreen. But whenever I did get sunburnt, the first thing I would look for is some lotion with aloe vera in it. That’s just what I’ve always been told to use to treat sun burns and for the most part, it worked.
UnBurn is a unique product to help treat sun burns. From the UnBurn website: “Unburn provides fast relief of pain associated with sunburns. Unburn’s water based gel draws the heat out of the burn to cool the skin. The gel controls by acting as a heat exchanger. It’s formulated with 2.5% lidocaine to give you quick pain relief.”
I just competed in a 30-mile bike ride a few weeks ago and like always, I did not put any sunscreen on. Fortunately, it wasn’t too sunny out and I was wearing a long sleeve shirt as well as my helmet. So the only part of me that got burnt was part of my neck. I was able to use the UnBurn on my neck and was able to see and feel the effects right away. It didn’t last as long as a typical sun burn and was able to avoid the discomfort that is usually associated with it.
